Zoë Zwanenburg joined Turko and Company after completing her articles in criminal law, family law and prison law, appearing in all levels of court. She was called to the British Columbia bar in 2020.

Zoë was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Vancouver at a young age. Her curiosity of social justice issues were fundamental in her decision to study law. She was awarded a Juris Doctor from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2017.

While at law school, she participated in the Juvenile Justice Program, whereby she regularly visited and mentored young female offenders sentenced to closed custody. Additionally, she participated in Social Justice Conferences and volunteered for the New South Wales Bar Association.

Prior to law school, she completed her Bachelors of Arts (Honours) at University College Roosevelt, the Netherlands, where she specialised in International and European Law. She spent a winter semester abroad at Humboldt University in Germany, completing additional courses with a focus on human rights law.

Zoë is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society, the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law, and the Canadian Prison Law Association.

Her areas of practice will include criminal, regulatory and prison law in BC.
